Seondary education at Our Lady of Assumption Schools builds upon the firm foundations of the Our Lady of Assumption Schools Primary Programme. Whilst being cultivated in a caring, sharing environment, students become increasing independent and responsible for their own learning. A holistic approach to education is adopted, respecting each student as an individual with a unique set of qualities. Students are motivated and encouraged to achieve their potential leading to their personal satisfaction and resulting in self-motivation and self-confidence.

Students' learning is related to real life experiences giving context and meaning. A varied curriculum is offered with a full range of subjects to ensure that all students receive a broad yet balanced learning experience. Students are encouraged to adopt an inquiry-based approach to the acquisition of knowledge which leads to reflection; crucial to deeper understanding. In addition, students are led to appreciate the value of helping others through the school's strong links with charitable organisations.

As students' progress through the Secondary School they build the skills and prior knowledge they require to enter their final years as preparation for further studies. As autonomous learners, they are well prepared to shape their own educational pathways and are provided with individual guidance to enable them to identify and achieve their personal goals.

The Principal

St. Julie Billiart, Foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, described Catholic education as “uplifting, inspiring, and the most important work that can be done on earth.” These words of St. Julie so perfectly illustrate the beliefs and dedication of the talented faculty and staff here at Our Lady of Assumption Schools Trans Nkisi Onitsha.
